FAQs
Do paintings come with Mats and Frames?
No. You will need to arrange for matting and framing your new painting. Some customers do-it-themselves with materials purchased from art supply stores, and others choose to pay to have the framing done by a professional.
Is there anything I need to know about matting and framing?
Most discerning jurors and professionals recommend off-white tones for your mat. See the chart to the left for sizing information - both for half-sheet and full-sheet size paintings.
Standard metal section frames are practical because their narrow width allows the mat to serve as the principal separation between the art and the wall. Functionally, the thin frame acts to hold the glass against the matted work. Metal section frames make shipments easier, as they save a few inches of space within the crate. The silver color is the most versatile of the various finishes because it reflects and relates to the surroundings.
Finally, Clear acrylic plexiglass 1/8β thick is my preference, for its light weight and performance.
